An ad company and World Health day event – What’s the connection

Yesterday, while browsing through the CityPlus paper for my locality, I stumbled upon an announcement which read “walk run cycle 5km on world health day”. This looked really interesting and I thought it would be a nice idea to participate and meet other cyclists in my area.

Under the announcement it read “call 934309xxxx” to register for the event. Instead of calling, I sent an SMS to the number indicating my interest and asking for more details (such as time etc). To my surprise THERE WAS NO RESPONSE! Awesome.

Then my next activity was to search on Google and locate pages around this topic so that I can gather more information – no luck!

So I ended up with some stalking – entered the phone number associated with the announcement in Google and it spit out pages pointing to an ad agency. Interesting! What is an ad agency doing on a world health day run and cycle event? Probably they are the PR agency, but in such case they should have responded to my SMS – no I am not going to make a call, I am not too eager to fall into traps if at all they are traps.

This leads to me into some conclusion. The so called ad agency might be collecting prospective leads to sell healthcare products or spam them with promotions related to such products. Period.

If the so called ad agency in my area want to challenge my post, let them clarify their stand as a comment here.

Guys, are you going to such an event if you see one such announcement?
